Presidential Preference Primary Results

& Elections Integrity Seminar

Registered voters in the city of Woonsocket cast their ballots at 6 polling locations for the Presidential Preference Primary on Tuesday, April 2nd. As of 8:00PM on election night, a total of 803 voters turned out to vote in-person Election Day, another 225 voted by mail and 64 voted early in-person at City Hall. The unofficial results can be found on the RI Board of Elections website at www.elections.ri.gov. Results can be viewed statewide, or results can be viewed by city/town.

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would also like to take this opportunity to notify the public that the Republican and Democratic City Committees will be hosting Secretary of State Gregg Amore and the RI Department of State Elections Division for an Elections Integrity Forum open and free to the public later this month. Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees welcome Sec. of State Gregg Amore for Election Integrity Forum

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would like to welcome Rhode Islanders to an Elections Integrity Forum hosted by the Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees in conjunction with RI Department of State Elections Division. This event will be held on April 20th, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Woonsocket Education Center located at 115 Main St, Woonsocket.

Attendees will hear from Rhode Island’s chief election official Secretary of State Gregg Amore and his report on the state of elections administration in RI. After a brief presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from state and local election administrators who can share their knowledge of the procedures that dictate how elections are conducted across the state.

This event will be an excellent opportunity for election administrators to better understand their constituents concerns and questions, as well as giving attendees a chance to hear the facts of election administration right from the source. Three officers with a U.S. Marshals task force are dead and five police officers are hurt after a shootout in Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings says the officers were part of a fugitive task force serving a warrant at a home, when a suspect opened fire. That suspect died, but another person inside the home soon starting firing, hitting and killing the marshals.        Pro-Palestinian protests are once again leading to some tense scenes at U.S. university campuses. Texas police were back at the University of Texas at Austin campus today, forcibly removing protesters in a chaotic scene. Meanwhile, protesters at Columbia University remain on campus after a 2 p.m. Eastern deadline to disband came and went.       Five Republican-led states are challenging the Biden administration's controversial overhaul of Title-Nine in court. Louisiana, Mississippi, Idaho, Montana, and Texas recently sued to block the new changes involving transgenders. The states argue that the new rules would effectively prohibit sex-separate facilities such as restrooms, showers, and locker rooms.        The star witness in former President Trump's criminal hush money trial says he won't talk about the case anymore. Ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen said he will "cease posting." The trial will resume tomorrow in New York City.        One study shows people who have Long COVID are more likely to have mental health issues. The study published by the American Medical Association studied over 25 thousand U.S. adults with and without long COVID. It discovered that long COVID patients were twice as likely to experience depression, anxiety, sleeping disorders, cognitive problems and disabling fatigue.       Some network NFL-pregame shows are undergoing major shakeups. At CBS, former quarterbacks Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms are out at "The NFL Today" with Matt Ryan and JJ Watt being their replacements. Meanwhile over at ESPN, The Athletic reports former Philadelphia Eagle Jason Kelce is joining "Monday Night Countdown" program.
